                      DIVERGENT
Divergent by Veronica Roth. Chicago, a broke down town that was the only town left remaining after the war. To keep the peace the government divided into five faction, Erudite, Abnegation, Amity, Dauntless, Candor. The main character is Tris (Shailene Woodley), she was from Abnegation, then transferred to Dauntless. When she transferred to she had to go through initiation. They went through three stages, in ten weeks. First was your physical stage, you learn how to fight, shoot guns and throw knives. The second stage is it was more of mentally, emotional stage, where you go through fear landscapes, and try to face your fears. Third stage is you take your final test, in front of everyone. Four (Theo James) was an instructor for the transfer initiation, he ends up falling in love with Tris. They were both Divergent so when the Erudite tried to take attach the abnegation so they can take away the government from Abnegation, and injected them with serums it didn't work on them. The leaders do not like Divergents because they can not be controlled. Miles Teller played Peter, he did not like Tris at all because she was from Abnegation. Christina (Zoe Kravitz) was best friends with Tris.
There were many differences but there were also some similarities. The part were she is in her fear landscape was the same. When she got attacked by the crows, the glass box that filled up with water, the intimacy seen with Four, and then when she has to kill her parents. That was the only part that was the most similar.
A difference was that they barely put in any seen with Eric being a dick to everyone. The did not show where Eric yelled at Tris for leaving the compound, and tempted to change her rankings. He was a douche in the movie but the book portrayed it better.
The book was in great detail and it put an image into your head but what I saw in my imagination and what I was in the movie were completely different. The book had a lot more scenes then and events, and the movie cut out a lot of those event that were really good. The movie would have been way to long if they would have incountered all the events.
The book Divergent was a book narrated by Beatrice Prior, girl from Abnegation who trandsferred to Dauntless. She manipulated the training but made it through. Four, her new lover was Divergent just like she was. When the dauntless leader injected all the Dauntless with serums it didn't work on Tris and Four. If you are Divergent the leaders will kill you because you can not be controlled. You are better then everyone else. The movie and the book were very different but had the same idea and plot. Personal opinion the book was way better.

Gatsby life lessons
2/18/14

In the movie 'The Great Gatsby', Gatsby is madly in love with Daisy causing a riot between
Tom and Gatsby. Well at a hotel with Jordan, Nick, Tom, Daisy and Gatsby, the topic of
Daisy's and Gatsby's affair came about. It gets really heated and they end up just going
home. On the home Gatsby and Daisy road together and Daisy was driving. When the went through Valley of Ashes, Myrtle runs out onto the road and gets hit my Daisy.
The stopped the car for a split second just so Gatsby could switch sits with Daisy, then the took off. Tom, Jordan and Tom were a was back behind Gatsby. When the arrived at the scene Tom automatically thought it was Gatsby, went straight to George Wilson, Myrtles husband, and told him all about Gatsby and something should be done to Gatsby because of this. Tom obviously doesn't like Gatsby and is heart broken by Myrtles death because she was once his mistress. Mr. Wilson had a suspicion that Myrtle was cheating on him but didn't know who and then blames Gatsby for that too. Wilson ended up shooting Gatsby and killing him for what he did. Although he didn't really do it. Daisy didn't speak of a word about it and confessed to her wrong, she just ran away with Tom and Pammy, returning to the money and cluelessness.
Assuming can get people into sticky situation and get the person that is getting assumed will be confused. Like in the movie in this assumption, Gatsby gets killed. In this situation I know that you would care less to ask what actually happened and just go with what you hear because you are so frustrated because your loved one has been killed. And also having people like Tom, convincing you that it was Gatsby.

Compare and Contrast

The movie and the book were very similar. There was just a few differences. In the movie i noticed that the only people that had handicapped things were the many characters, Hazel, George, Harrison, and the Ballerinas. The music players didn't have anything on them and they were actually really good at playing music. In the book it states that the TV went off air when the general was shooting Harrison and the ballerina. In the book it also didn't include that Harrison had a bomb and the button to set off the bomb wasn't to the bomb it was to get the TV back on air so people, like Harrison's Father could watch how wrong and incorrect the 2081 year society is.

Politically Correct

We, as a whole society, are in a very similar situation as in the story Harrison Bergeron. We are handicapped into believing the government is right and this is what has to be done and said to be equal. What needs to happen is the exact opposite. We are not physically handicapped, with things in our ears to distract us or masks on to hide our beauty but we are handicapped mentally, because we are so programed to be politically correct that we don’t know how to fix it.
George and Hazel in the story want the ballerinas to actually be good and not be handicapped, so that it would be entertaining. That would be unequal though. They thought a little more and became up with the conclusion that the world would go back to the “dark ages.” They are scared to not be handicapped and in our society we are scared to be handicapped.  In the real world everyone wants to be told the trust and for people to be straight up with each other, but when this happens people don’t like it and get offended. Therefore they are being very hypocritical.
People cannot say what they are actually thinking, they say what they think people want to hear but actually most of us just want the straight up truth. We have to watch what we say because sensitive individuals might take it the wrong way and blow it out of proportion. For example, people that do not like being politically correct but have to be for their jobs, might rebel and go against the government. This might offend someone Important and they will end up getting in trouble. This goes for the same situation in Harrison Bergeron. Harrison was a very talented, handsome, smart man that did not want to be handicapped because the Handicap General demanded it. So he went to the ballet and made the people in there be like him. He grabbed a ballerina and broke what she had for being beautiful and talented. Then he broke all the musicians handicapped things and made them play music ad he and the ballerina danced. The General heard, came in and shot both the ballerina and Harrison and made the musicians out back on their handicapped things.

What I’m trying to get across is that we have to step up to the government, not just one because they’ll shut you down like they did by killing Harrison and the ballerina. We have to get a group, a bunch of people to say, this is not how things should be and we need a change.
