                      DIVERGENT
Divergent by Veronica Roth. Chicago, a broke down town that was the only town left remaining after the war. To keep the peace the government divided into five faction, Erudite, Abnegation, Amity, Dauntless, Candor. The main character is Tris (Shailene Woodley), she was from Abnegation, then transferred to Dauntless. When she transferred to she had to go through initiation. They went through three stages, in ten weeks. First was your physical stage, you learn how to fight, shoot guns and throw knives. The second stage is it was more of mentally, emotional stage, where you go through fear landscapes, and try to face your fears. Third stage is you take your final test, in front of everyone. Four (Theo James) was an instructor for the transfer initiation, he ends up falling in love with Tris. They were both Divergent so when the Erudite tried to take attach the abnegation so they can take away the government from Abnegation, and injected them with serums it didn't work on them. The leaders do not like Divergents because they can not be controlled. Miles Teller played Peter, he did not like Tris at all because she was from Abnegation. Christina (Zoe Kravitz) was best friends with Tris.
There were many differences but there were also some similarities. The part were she is in her fear landscape was the same. When she got attacked by the crows, the glass box that filled up with water, the intimacy seen with Four, and then when she has to kill her parents. That was the only part that was the most similar.
A difference was that they barely put in any seen with Eric being a dick to everyone. The did not show where Eric yelled at Tris for leaving the compound, and tempted to change her rankings. He was a douche in the movie but the book portrayed it better.
The book was in great detail and it put an image into your head but what I saw in my imagination and what I was in the movie were completely different. The book had a lot more scenes then and events, and the movie cut out a lot of those event that were really good. The movie would have been way to long if they would have incountered all the events.
The book Divergent was a book narrated by Beatrice Prior, girl from Abnegation who trandsferred to Dauntless. She manipulated the training but made it through. Four, her new lover was Divergent just like she was. When the dauntless leader injected all the Dauntless with serums it didn't work on Tris and Four. If you are Divergent the leaders will kill you because you can not be controlled. You are better then everyone else. The movie and the book were very different but had the same idea and plot. Personal opinion the book was way better.
